The NHS has a strong directive to make efficiency savings of £15 - £20 billion by 2014. As Osteoporosis is highly preventable, a focus on effective management offers an opportunity for substantial savings in the future.At the start of this new decade, this new report – Breaking Point – is issued by a group of clinicians, policy makers, patient organisations and professional organisations - including the BMS. It describes the current situation for women with post menopausal osteoporosis in the UK and is a clarion call for the NHS to implement a systematic approach to fragility fracture care and prevention.
